Brief
Some people are concerned about the number of trees cut down to provide paper for untargetted direct mail. Also, direct mail presently accounts for c. 1.5% of UK landfill.

In response to the growing amount of junk mail received each day, I produced a creative solution that will remove recipients' name from certain companies' mailing lists. While the Mail Preference Service is an option, it means one's name is removed from all mailing lists.

Approach
When I receive a piece of unwanted mail, I write back to the sender and ask them to remove me from their mailing lists and future mailings. I also throw the rest of the pack into the recycling bin.

It can be time-consuming to write the same 'remove my name' message 2 or 3 times a day to various companies, so I felt a stamp could more creatively and efficiently get the message across.

Instructions
1) Receive unwanted direct mail
2) Stamp offending piece of mail with stamp
3) Sign and date request to be removed from mailing lists and future mailings
4) Using the freepost envelope usually included in the mail pack, return mail to sender.

If a company uses better targetted mail lists, they'll save themselves some money and reduce their cost per acquisition. Everybody wins.
